Eating out: A wide range of restaurants & pizzerias are nearby, especially around Alghero. However for a flavour and atmosphere of real Sardinia you should visit one (or more!) of the many local "Agriturismo." These restaurants serve local produce, offering a set menu at a fixed price (including unlimited food and local wine, with coffee) and are very good value, especially if you want a long, leisurely, "eat 'til you're full" evening. They are very popular with the local Italians, and you often need to book in advance at busy holiday periods. Basic pizza evenings are from around €15/person and there are a couple of much more exotic venues and menus (including cinghiale, local wild boar) at around €40/person, all within 15 minutes of the Villa.
Please be aware that Sardinia has a relatively short peak holiday season between June and August. During these months beaches and attractions will be very busy. Outside these months things can be very quiet and some attractions may not be available. However at those times this makes Sardinia an ideal location for those seeking Mediterranean weather, beauty and tranquility, combined with the ability to travel around freely!
